Bloomsburg Drops Doubleheader to West Chester in Baseball

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University baseball team ended its 2005 season by dropping a pair of games to West Chester by scores of 7-1 and 3-2.

In the opener, the Huskies got a first inning run when Ryan Wyland doubled and came home on Larry Piccini's RBI single. However, that would be all the scoring for the Huskies as West Chester would break open a close game by scoring three in the fifth and two more in the seventh.

In game two, West Chester got a three-run homer in the first inning from Mark Gilliford and hung on for the win. Bloomsburg scored single runs in the first and fifth innings. Wyland scored on an error in the first after reaching on an error, while in the fifth, Matt Robinson scored on a steal of home. The Huskies did get the tying run and go-ahead runs on base in the sixth, but West Chester worked out of the jam.

The Huskies end their season at 18-25, 8-12 in the PSAC East.
