Bloomsburg Falls in Non-Conference Game with Scranton

SCRANTON —The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a 5-4 game to the University of Scranton on Thursday.

The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the game on a two-run homer from Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) in the second inning. Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock Twp) scored ahead of Bucher after reaching on an error.

The Royals went ahead in the fourth inning scoring four times. Scranton had four hits in the inning and also took advantage of two errors by the Huskies.

Bloomsburg tied the score in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs. Wyland had an RBI single which scored Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury), while Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) hit into a bases loaded double play to score the tying run.

Scranton went ahead with a single run in the bottom of the eighth. The Huskies did threaten in the top of the ninth putting runners on the corner with two outs, but a fly out ended the game.

Bloomsburg, 6-12, will host Mansfield on Friday in a twinbill at 1 p.m.
