Bloomsburg Splits with Millersville in Baseball

YORK —The Bloomsburg University baseball team won game two of its doubleheader with Millersville University by a 10-3 score after dropping the opener, 13-0, on Saturday.
In the game two, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock Twp) singled, stole second and scored on a single by Larry Piccini (Jessup/Valley View).
Millersville took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first before Bloomsburg came back and regained the lead with two runs of its own in the third. Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) had an RBI single in the inning, while another run scored on a ground out by Chris Husted (West Decatur/Philipsburg-Osecola).
The Huskies made it 4-2 with a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury). After Millersville pulled to within a run at 4-3 in the sixth, the Huskies put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh.
Bloomsburg scored six runs in the inning on just two hits and also took advantage of three walks and an error.
Casey Markey (York/Dallastown) went the first five and a third innings to earn the win with Andy Gideon (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) finishing up.
Piccini was 3 for 4 in the game with an RBI, while Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
In game one, the Huskies managed just four singles and lost 13-0.
The Huskies go to 12-20, 4-8 in the PSAC East, while Millersville goes to 9-22-1, 3-8 in the PSAC East.
Bloomsburg will host Susquehanna on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Litwhiler Field.
