Bloomsburg Drops Twinbill with West Chester in Baseball

BLOOMSBURG The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a twinbill to West Chester on Friday by scores of 18-8 and 14-4.
In the opener, the Golden Rams scored fives in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of two Bloomsburg errors and three walks. Then later, leading 6-0, West Chester scored six more times in the third to go up 12-0 and then put the game away with six in the top of the seventh.
Bloomsburg scored five times in the bottom of the seventh with Jason Giordano (Scotrun/Pocono Mountain) knocking in two runs with a single, while Andy Howard (Glen Rock/Dallastown), Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) and Chris Husted (West Decatur/Philipsburg-Osceola) all drove home one run with hits.
Erik Ruff led the way for the Golden Rams going 3-6 with a homer and five RBI. The Huskies were paced by Brian Zorger's 2-3 with two RBI.
In game two, the Golden Rams jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings with Ruff hitting a three-run homer in the second inning for the big blow. The Huskies got four back in the bottom of the fourth inning with Joe Pesci (Levitttown/Pennsbury) hitting a three-run homer in the inning for Bloomsburg.
Ruff finished 3-4 with four RBI in game two, while Pesci was 2-3 with three RBI for Bloomsburg.
The Huskies, 12-23, 3-10 in the PSAC East, will play at West Chester, 30-6-2, 10-4 PSAC East, at 1 p.m. Saturday in a twinbill.
