Bloomsburg Drops Pair to Millersville

MILLERSVILLE —Millersville University swept a doubleheader from Bloomsburg University on Tuesday by scores of 11-5 and 3-0.

In game one the Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Mark Reiter (Three Bridges, NJ/Hunterdon Central) singled and later scored on a single by Aaron Wheeler (Summerville, SC/Summerville). The Marauders, though, came back with four runs in the home half of the first and two more in the bottom of the second inning. The Huskies posted a run in the third when Wheeler doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Vinnie James (Philadelphia/Bristol). Millersville put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to open a 9-2 lead.

In game two, the Huskies loaded the bases with two outs to open the game, but saw the threat end when Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury) got picked off at first base. Later, with the teams locked in a scoreless duel, Millersville broke through with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. The Marauders added a single run in the sixth for a 3-0 lead. In the top half of the seventh, the Huskies got a two-out double from Brian Zorger (Altoona/Altoona), but could not score.

The Huskies fall to 10-18, 2-6 in the PSAC East, while Millersville improves to 11-11, 3-5 in the PSAC East.
