Bloomsburg Falls to Lock Haven in Baseball

LOCK HAVEN —Lock Haven scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to get by Bloomsburg University, 3-2, in collegiate baseball action Tuesday.

The Bald Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Kyle Elbin singled home a run. Bloomsburg rallied in the top of the second to take the lead.

Brian Zorger walked to open the inning for the Huskies. After Aaron Wheeler was retired, Phil Guinto homered to left field to give Bloomsburg a 2-1 lead.

It stayed 2-1 until the bottom of the seventh when Rich Franco reached on a fielder's choice scoring Chris Miller with the tying run.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Huskies retired the first two batters of the inning before Ben Eshelman reached on a error. Al Thomas then came into pinch-run and moved to second on a wild pitch. Franco then doubled to left scoring Thomas with the gamewinning run.

Bloomsburg, 8-12, will host Kutztown on Friday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader.
