March 6, 2004 Huskies Split Pair in Baseball SaturdayFT. MEYERS, FLThe Bloomsburg University baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday on the opening day of its annual spring trip to Florida. The Huskies beat Salem Teikyo 6-4 in the afternoon after losing a 6-0 game to Slippery Rock in the morning. In the Salem Teikyo game, Matt Funk tossed a two-hit, complete game to lead the Huskies to the win. Funk struck out four along the way to earn the victory. Brian Zorger who went 2-3, while Matt Robinson was 1-3 with an RBI to lead the Huskies' offense. Freshman Vinnie James also went 1-2 with a double and three RBI. In game one of the day, Slippery Rock pitcher John Katich threw a two-hit shutout at the Huskies to lead the Rock to a 6-0 win. Katich struckout two and walked two in earning the win. The lone hits in the game for Bloomsburg came from Andy Howard and Troy Smith. Bloomsburg, 2-5, will face Southern New Hampshire in a twinbill Sunday. GAME ONE
