Huskies Drop Pair to East Stroudsburg

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg baseball team dropped a pair of game to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, 8-6 and 9-5 in eight innings.

Game two was played under protest after East Stroudsburg make some substitutions during its at-bat in the eighth inning.

In the opener, the Huskies fell behind 7-2 after two and a half innings, but rallied to get within one run at 7-6. Bloomsburg scored two in the first, then came back with three in the third with Vinnie James and Dan Adamo getting RBI singles. The Huskies added another in the fourth with Joe Pesci getting a sac fly RBI to make it 7-6. However, the Warriors added an insurance run in the sixth and held off the Huskies the rest of the way.

In game two, the Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead on RBI from Pesci and Larry Piccini. After the Warriors rallied and took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Huskies tied the score with three runs in the fifth. Chris Husted, Pesci and Brian Zorger all had RBI in the inning for the Huskies.

East Stroudsburg, though, put four runs on the board in the top of the eighth inning to pull away for the win. In the inning, East Stroudsburg tried to pinch hit its pitcher, Kyle Rizzi, into the batting order, but was stopped one pitch into the at-bat. Rizzi was then allowed to remain in the game as the pitcher with the Warriors getting a pinch-hitter into the game. Bloomsburg coach Matt Haney then played the rest of the game under protest.

Bloomsburg, 11-21, 3-9 in the PSAC, will host Lock Haven on Monday at 1 p.m.. East Stroudsburg goes to 12-20, 4-8 in the PSAC, with the wins.
