Wyland's Lift Helps Huskies Rally For Win Over East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG —Freshman Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock Twp.) doubled home the tying and go-ahead runs,k then earned the save on the mound as the Bloomsburg University baseball team scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 6-5 win over East Stroudsburg in game two of its doubleheader on Friday. The Warriors won game one by the same 6-5 score.

The Huskies trailed 5-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning when Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) led off the inning by reaching base on an error. Mark Reiter (Three Bridges, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and Chris Husted (West Decatur/Philipsburg-Osceola) then walked to load the bases with no outs. Brian Zorger (Altoona/Altoona) then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Bucher to make it 5-3 and Reiter advancing to third. With Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) running for Husted, Reiter stole home with Robinson taking second on the play and bringing the Huskies to within 5-4. After Aaron Wheeler (Summerville, SC/Summerville) struck out for the second out, Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury) was walked intentionally putting runners at first and second. Troy Smith (Dauphin/C.D. East) came into run for Pseci with Wyland batting for Dave Keohler (Bethlehem/Freedom). Wyland then lined a double bring home Robinson with the tying run and Smith with the go-ahead run.

Wyland then stayed in to pitch and earned the save. East Stroudsburg did get a runner to second with one out, but Wyland was able to get the final two outs to earn the split.

In game one, the Huskies trailed 6-1 heading into the top of the seventh and also scored four times to make the game interesting. In the inning Husted and Wheeler each picked up one RBI with Vinnie James (Philadelphia/Bristol) singling two more. However, the Warriors got out of the inning without any further damage.

Bloomsburg, 11-19, 3-7 PSAC East, will host East Stroudsburg starting at 1 p.m.
