Bloomsburg Drops Pair to Mansfield In Baseball
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Mansfield on Saturday losing game one, 11-5, and 3-2 in the nightcap. In game one, the Huskies and Mountaineers were locked in a 1-1 game in the fifth inning when the Mounties scored nine times to take a 10-1 lead. Bloomsburg got four back in the bottom of the seventh and had the bases loaded, but Mountie pitcher Dan Yoder got a strikeout to end the game. In game two, the Huskies' Kurt Bidermann allowed just three runs, but the Bloomsburg offense managed just six hits in the 3-2 loss. Brian Martin led the way for Bloomsburg going 3-3 with a home run, while Nick Stachokus also had a run batted in. Bloomsburg had the go-ahead run at the plate in the seventh inning, but Mark Reiter's line drive was speared by the Mansfield shortstop to end the game. Bloomsburg is now 14-21, 3-13 in the PSAC East. The Huskies host Kutztown on Thursday in the final regular season games. |
