BRADENTON, FL—The Bloomsburg University baseball team evened its record in Florida at 2-2 with a sweep of two PSAC Western Division opponents on Saturday. The Huskies beat Indiana (PA), 6-3, in the morning, then followed up with a 7-2 win over Slippery Rock.

In the win over IUP, the Huskies scored three times in the third inning to grab the early lead. Jeremy Arner had a two-run single in the inning, while Chris Husted (West Decatur/Philipsburg-Osceola) also added an RBI single. The Huskies made it 4-0 in the top of the fourth when Jim Coombe (Bloomsburg/Danville) stole home.

After the Indians cut the margin t 4-3 with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings, the Huskies sealed the win with two insurance runs in the top half of the seventh. Brian Zorger (Altoona/Altoona) and Brian Martin (Macungie/Emmaus) had RBI singles for Bloomsburg.

Mike Robertson (Elizabethville/Upper Dauphin) earned the win with relief help from Mike Klechak (Hazleton/Hazleton) and Mike Vavra (Hatfield/North Penn).

In game two, the Huskies scored five times in the bottom of the second to get control of the game. With the bases loaded, Arner singled home the first run scoring Brian Sperling (Levittown/Neshaminy). Nick Stachokus (Honesdale/Honesdale) then walked to force in another run. Later, Husted singled home the third run, before two more came home when Jim Coombe reached on an error. After the Rock cut the score to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the fifth, the Huskies out the game away with two runs of their own in the home half of the fifth.

Bloomsburg, 5-3, is idle Sunday and will play two with Edinboro on Monday.
