EAST STROUDSBURG —The Bloomsburg University baseball team split its twin bill with East Stroudsburg on Sunday losing game one 5-4 and winning the nightcap, 7-0.

In game two the Huskies won 7-0 behind the five-hit pitching of Kurt Biedermann, who went the distance, and two hits each from Jeremy Arner, Chris Husted and Andy Howard.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning with the help of four East Stroudsburg errors. David Manter had an RBI ground out for the first run of the game, while Andy Howard and Nick Stachokus added RBI singles. Later in the inning, Jeremy Arner had the big blow, a two-run single which gave the Huskies a 5-0 edge.

The Huskies put the game away with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Brian Martin scored one run on a balk, while the Husted had an RBI single for the games final run.

Bidermann struck out five and walked just two in earning his first win of the season.

In the opener, the Huskies trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the seventh when they broke through for four runs with two outs. With two down, Josh Beddall walked with Troy Smith going into pinch run. Stefan Muller then singled with Smith moving to second. Brian Sperling then stroked a pinch hit single scoring Smith. Mark Reiter then reached on an error with Muller and Sperling both scoring. Husted then singled scoring Reiter and giving the Huskies a 4-2 lead.

However, the Warriors plated three runs of their own in the home half of the seventh to win 5-4.

Bloomsburg goes to 15-22, 4-14 in the PSAC East with the split. The Huskies visit West Chester Wednesday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.
