Bloomsburg Splits with East Stroudsburg in Baseball

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University baseball team split a twinbill with East Stroudsburg on Friday winning game one, 6-4, and dropping the nightcap, 10-4.

In the opener, Mike Vavra picked up the win in relief of Jim Danforth. Vavra went the final 3 1/3 innings to earn the win. The Huskies offense was supplied by Chris Husted who went 1-3 with three RBI, while Jeremy Arner was 2-3 with a run scored. The Huskies put four on the board in the bottom of the fourth to break a 2-2 tie.

In the nightcap, the Huskies lost 10-4. Jay Grobelny went the distance and allowed six hits and just two earned runs.

Bloomsburg was led offensively by Nick Stachokus who went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Bloomsburg, 14-19, 3-11 in the PSAC, will host Mansfield Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
