Bucknell Sweeps Bloomsburg in Baseball
LEWISBURG-The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Bucknell University Saturday afternoon. The Huskies dropped game one, 10-6, and lost game two by the score of 16-7.
In game one, Bloomsburg jumped out to a 1-0 first inning lead, before surrendering the lead for good in the second when the Bisons scored a pair of runs. Brain Sperling (Levittown/Neshaminy) and Brian Zorger (Altoona/Altoona) led the way on offense, collecting two hits apiece. Zorger also knocked in a run. Tim Kelleher (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) chipped in with a two-run homerun, while Mark Reiter (Three Bridges, NJ/Hunterdon Central) scored two runs and knocked in a run in the losing cause. Starting pitcher Matt Wiltrout (Macungie/Emmaus) picked up the loss, falling to 1-1 on the year.
In the nightcap, the Bisons used an 11-run seventh inning to take the lead for good and complete the doubleheader sweep. For Bloomsburg, Brian Martin (Macungie/Emmaus) led the offense two hits, two runs batted in and one run scored. Jeremy Arner (Alburtis/Emmaus) had one hit and two RBI, while Andy Howard (Glen Rock/Dallastown) and Dan Adamo (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) each recorded one hit and one run batted in. Starting pitcher Mike Robertson (Elizabethville/Upper Dauphin) received a no decision, allowing just two earned runs and four hits over six innings pitched.
Bloomsburg, now 10-8 on the year, will be back in action Monday, March 24th for a game at Wilkes beginning at 3 p.m.
