April 6, 2003 Bloomsburg Drops Pair to Kutztown in BaseballKUTZTOWN The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Kutztown on Sunday losing game one, 7-3, and the nightcap, 17-0. In the opener, the Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when with one out Mark Reiter singled. After Brian Martin flied out, Reiter stole second and scored on a single by Brian Zorger. Tim Kelleher then doubled homer Zorger to a 2-0 lead. After Kutztown cut the lead to 2-1, the Huskies made it a 3-1 with a run in the third inning. Husted doubled to lead off the inning and took third on an error by the rightfielder. After a strikeout, Martin singled home Husted. The Golden Bears, though, scored five times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. They added another run in the sixth for the final margin of 7-3. Husted and Reiter both went 1-3 with runs scored, while Martin, Zorger and Kelleher all had RBI. In game the Huskies managed just four hits in losing 17-0. The Golden Bears scored three times in the bottom of the first and then put nine runs on the board in the bottom of the second for a 12-0 lead. They later added five more in the fourth to make the final 17-0. The Huskies, 11-11, 0-3 in the PSAC East, are scheduled to host West Chester Monday afternoon, weather permitting, at 1 p.m. at Lithwhiler Field. |
