Students enrolled in most degree programs may also opt for a minor or concentration to augment study toward specific career goals or for personal enrichment. Bloomsburg University offers 63 undergraduate degree programs and several health care programs involving clinical study elsewhere. Several programs offer concentrations within the major, such as biology. You can choose an optional minor or career concentration to tailor your college education to specific interests or just for personal enrichment.

Sakinah Tillman, a junior majoring in political science with a concentration in public administration and human resources and minor in communication studies. She is a graduate of Lankenau High School, Philadelphia, and volunteers as a math tutor on campus to keep her hand in a favorite subject area. She is a Board of Governors scholar, is active in the Legal Studies Association, and plans to go on to law school and a career in government. She chose BU because she liked the atmosphere and the guidance and support of the admissions staff.

All BU students must complete 53 credits of general education requirements as a part of the 120-credit requirement for a bachelor's degree. Bloomsburg's wide range of course selections often means general education courses work well with an overall education plan. Elective courses allow you to supplement your specific plan of study with classes that help prepare you for a career or perhaps just expand your intellectual horizons.

Some majors have specific course sequences that must be taken in an eight-semester path, while others are far more flexible. But even the most rigorous programs at Bloomsburg are reasonable to pursue for a bachelor's degree in four years with an average semester load of five classes.

Your first semester at BU is preplanned to ensure you get into the beginning classes you'll need. After that, you'll work closely with an adviser from your major to keep you on a track toward success and tailor the academic program to your specific needs and interests.
